About Jamie Welsford

The Executive Director of the Greenbelt Family Health Team in Nepean, Ontario, Jamie Welsford previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Almonte General Hospital. From 2002 to 2004, he took some time to work with two nonprofit health groups. Over the course of his tenure with the hospital, Jamie Welsford made a number of important changes to its financial systems. He directed the implementation of new information technology infrastructure. In addition, Mr. Welsford made several key investments in telecommunications and information technology, which resulted in dramatic savings for the hospital. He also participated in negotiations regarding the transfer of ownership of a 112-bed, long-term care facility from Lanark County to the Hospital.

Previously, Jamie Welsford functioned as the Director of Accounting Services for the Salvation Army Grace Hospital. From 1993 to 1998, he developed and instituted financial procedures and maintained oversight of the Hospital’s financial information systems. Before this, Mr. Welsford served as a Financial Analyst at Ottawa Hospital. He began his career in 1987 as a Staff Accountant for Ernst and Young, LLP.

Jamie Welsford attended Carleton University in Ottawa where he earned an accounting degree in 1999. Antecedently, he received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Ottawa. In addition, Mr. Welsford has completed training in Financial Management and Budgeting, Managing in a Unionized Environment, and Applied Research Methods.

Mr. Welsford appreciates the outdoors, enjoying golf, tennis, fishing, skiing, and cycling. He has worked with several sports organizations, such as the East Nepean Little League Baseball Club, the Ottawa United Soccer Club, the Ottawa Senators AAA Hockey Association, and the Nepean Redskins Football Club. In his charitable endeavors, Mr. Welsford has provided support to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the United Way campaign for the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
